Iran Strikes US Logistics Facility in Kuwait in Retaliatory Attack

Kuwait City, July 17, 2026 – Iran launched a fresh wave of missile and drone strikes on US military targets in Kuwait yesterday, with reports indicating damage to logistics infrastructure and warehouses critical for American supply operations in the region.

According to multiple sources, the attacks targeted areas around Ali Al Salem Air Base and associated facilities, including support buildings and storage sites used by US forces. Iranian state media and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed the strikes were a direct response to recent US military actions against Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz and coastal areas.

Details of the Strike

Kuwaiti authorities reported intercepting several incoming ballistic missiles and drones, but confirmed that debris and at least one impact caused damage at military-linked sites. US officials have described the attack as part of an ongoing pattern of Iranian aggression, noting that facilities like Camp Arifjan and nearby ports serve as key hubs for American equipment, communications, and sustainment supplies in the Gulf.

Satellite imagery and local reports suggest impacts near warehouses and logistical support structures. While exact casualty figures from yesterday’s strike have not been fully released, previous similar attacks in the conflict have resulted in US personnel injuries and equipment damage, including high-value assets like MQ-9 Reaper drones.

The IRGC stated that its forces conducted “precise strikes” on US installations in Kuwait (and Bahrain) to retaliate for what Tehran calls “American aggression.” US Central Command (CENTCOM) has condemned the attacks as violations of the fragile ceasefire and vowed a strong response if provocations continue.

Broader Context

This latest incident is part of the escalating 2026 Iran–US conflict, which began earlier this year. Kuwait, a close US ally hosting thousands of American troops, has repeatedly come under fire as Iran seeks to pressure Washington by targeting regional bases.

Kuwaiti officials expressed concern over the repeated violations of its airspace and sovereignty, with air defenses activated multiple times in recent months. The strikes also risk further destabilizing the Gulf, where logistics hubs are essential for US operations.
