Journalist killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon

Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon have once again resulted in civilian casualties, including the death of a Lebanese journalist, Amal Khalil, who was reporting from the area. The strikes, which hit multiple locations in the south of the country, are part of the ongoing escalation between Israel and Hezbollah that has intensified in recent months.

According to reports, the journalist was killed while working in the field during coverage of the aftermath of earlier attacks. Lebanese media outlets and press freedom organisations have condemned the incident, describing it as another example of the extreme risks faced by journalists in the conflict zone.

The Lebanese authorities have accused Israel of violating international law, pointing to repeated incidents in which media workers have been caught in strikes. Israeli officials, however, state that their operations target Hezbollah-linked infrastructure and deny intentionally striking journalists.

The death has triggered renewed concern among press organisations, which warn that journalists are increasingly being exposed to danger while documenting the war. Calls have been made for greater protection of media workers and for investigations into attacks occurring in active conflict zones.
